11/10: Day Nine of Tour

About to embark on our four hour drive to El Paso, Texas today. It’ll be quite a bit better than our drive here (we’re in Roswell, New Mexico) since that was around eight hours. Last night was fun. We played at this little recreation center in a gymnasium. The sound was ridiculous, any of you musicians out there know that a room that large just reverberates like crazy. I had to turn the reverb all the way off on my amp to not sound like I was playing in a cave.

Not many people showed up last night. Happy Body Slow Brain’s set got cut halfway through without warning. It wasn’t the best concert we’ve ever played, but we met some cool people, and had fun with the other bands. Last night, after the show, all three bands went to Whataburger. This was my first Whataburger experience and I’m impressed. I love that the inside is open 24 hours, not just the drive-thru. We sat in there for awhile and shared stories with each other. We got to hear Matt’s story about his stint with Taking Back Sunday, something I’ve been wanting to hear for awhile.

After the restaurant, The Paper Melody took off towards El Paso, and Happy Body stayed and hung out with us. We all piled into our van, hung out, had a goood time, and showed each other new music. It’s so interesting to see what the other guys are listening to, it’s always something good, and it’s always something you’ve never heard of.

Anyway, we hear there will be a great turnout tonight, so we’re all stoked on that! We’re packing out of our hotel room now (it was nice to get my first shower in three days) and we’re heading southwest towards El Paso. I’m really interested to see what West Texas is like. Until next time!

Love,
